Handoff to product: the first 24 hours

Handoff to product: the first 24 hours

A creator said yes. That feels like the finish line — it isn't. A sign-up is not an activation. Whether this creator ever reaches their first sale is largely decided in the first 24 hours, and that window is yours to get right. A warm handoff here is the difference between a name on your dashboard and a creator who earns.

What to show first

Right after sign-up, point the creator at three things, in order. Where to connect their Instagram — nothing works until the account is linked. Where the Storefront lives and what it's for — this is where their products go. And where to create the first shoppable post — the single action that turns the account into earnings. Three links, three sentences. Not the whole product at once.

The handoff checklist

Run the same short checklist every time. One — confirm the Instagram account is connected. Two — confirm they can find the Storefront. Three — confirm they know where the first post is created. Four — tell them what to expect next and when you'll check back. Five — leave one clear way to reach you with a question. Five points, every creator, no exceptions — consistency is what makes the handoff reliable.

What not to do

Three mistakes kill activations. Doing it for them — if you set up the account, they never learn it, and they leave the moment you do. Disappearing — going quiet right after the yes is when most drop-offs happen. And overloading — dumping every feature, every tip, every link in one message so they freeze. Your job in the first 24 hours is to guide, stay reachable, and keep it small.

Key takeaway: A warm handoff in the first 24 hours sharply raises the odds of activation. Guide, don't do it for them; stay reachable; keep it small.

Next step: Lesson 18 covers platform rules and DM limits — how to keep your scouting account healthy.
