Cross-platform: Reels + YouTube Shorts

The same 30-second reel can work in both Instagram and YouTube Shorts. Audiences overlap less than you'd expect: a meaningful share of YT Shorts viewers aren't active in IG Reels. Reposting adds 50–80% more reach without a new shoot.
What to carry over
The content is the same in both formats: product + hook + CTA. What you adapt: the caption (YouTube Shorts doesn't like hashtag walls — keep 3–5 key ones), the CTA (Comment "dm" for links works on IG; on YouTube Shorts use 'Link in description' and put your Trendweave Store link into the video description), and the first frame: YouTube Shorts is even stricter than IG on the first 2 seconds.
What not to carry over
A reel with an Instagram trending audio won't work on YouTube — replace it with clean voice-over or ambient. A reel with overlay text baked into the video — carry over as-is, no need to re-render.
Publish timing
YouTube Shorts' algorithm is slower than IG — a post warms up 24–72 hours vs 2–6 hours on IG. Don't post Shorts right after Instagram; give it 2–3 days so the Instagram load doesn't 'eat' the YouTube result.
How to track
Trendweave Statistics counts clicks on a tracking link regardless of which platform they came from. If you want to split YouTube vs Instagram traffic, generate two different tracking links to the same product (via 'Get affiliate link' in Trendweave) and use one per platform. After a week, you'll see which platform delivers more commission per post — that's where to push next.
Who shouldn't do this yet
If your Instagram is still in Stage 1 and unstable, don't dilute attention with YouTube. First get the rhythm of three posts a week in one channel (Lesson 15), then expand. Premature cross-platform is a cause of burnout, not growth.
Key takeaway: One reel, two platforms, almost double the reach. But this is a Stage 2 tool, not Stage 1 — get stable on one channel first.
Next step: Take your top reel from last week, publish it on YouTube Shorts with an adapted caption and 'Link in description'. After a week — compare clicks in Statistics.
