Why creators sign up and disappear

A sign-up feels like a win, but it isn't the finish line. A meaningful share of the creators you bring in never reach their first sale — they register, and then they go quiet. Understanding why is half of your job at this stage, because almost every drop-off has a cause you can act on.
The five reasons creators go quiet
Drop-off is rarely random. Five causes account for most of it. One — they didn't know where to start, so they started nowhere. Two — connecting Instagram stalled halfway and never got finished. Three — they didn't see a fast first result and decided it "doesn't work". Four — they expected easy money and met the reality that it takes content. Five — they simply forgot: no reminder, no touch from their scout. Each of these looks like disinterest from the outside. Most of the time it's friction.
One countermeasure for each
Every cause has a move. For "didn't know where to start" — give one clear first step, not a tour of everything. For a stalled connection — check it inside the first 24 hours (Lesson 17) before it goes cold. For "doesn't work" — set a realistic picture early: a first sale takes a number of posts, not one. For "expected easy money" — be honest about the effort during outreach (Lessons 6 and 15), so the reality isn't a surprise. For "forgot" — schedule a touch the moment they sign up, so the follow-up already exists.
Where you see it on the dashboard
Your Scout dashboard makes the stuck creators visible. A creator sitting on "Registration complete" rather than "Active" hasn't reached a first sale yet — that status is your work list for today. Go down it: each name there is a creator who is one well-timed touch away from moving, or one ignored touch away from gone.
Key takeaway: Drop-off is almost always predictable — and almost always fixable with one well-timed touch.
Next step: Lesson 20 is about the single action that turns a registered creator into an earning one — the first post.
