"What to buy" psychology — why people click

Between 'viewer watched the reel' and 'viewer placed an order' is about 30 seconds — but the decision happens in the first 5. Those 5 seconds are about psychology: what actually convinces a person to tap buy on your product instead of someone else's. Three triggers that work in Indian fashion are below.

Trigger 1 — specificity

'Good fabric' doesn't work; '100% pure cotton, fits 36–38 bust, doesn't shrink at 30°' does. Your audience has been burned by empty descriptions too many times to fall for 'amazing quality'. The more measurable detail — fit, fabric, price per piece, how to wash — the higher the CR. Don't describe the product as a seller; describe it as someone who wore it for a week.

Trigger 2 — social proof in real context

Studio photos convert worse than 'you in a real place'. You on the street, at work, at a family event — that's the signal 'this works in the places I go'. One good photo in context beats five pretty studio shots of the same product.

Trigger 3 — festive/sale windows

The Indian market is sharply sensitive to Diwali, Karwa Chauth, Eid, EOSS sales. Don't make 'evergreen' recommendations in December — make 'here's what I'm getting for Diwali' in October. The window works 7–10 days before the event and 3–5 days after.

What to avoid

'Stunning ✨', 'must-have', 'omg you guys ❤️❤️❤️', emoji walls in captions. These read as 'ad' signals; CR on such content is 2–3× lower than for calm, honest copy.

Key takeaway: Viewers tap buy when they feel you actually wore the product and know something about it that isn't on the marketplace picture. Delivery = details + context + season.
